North Island Secondary Schools Track & Field Championships
Two of our top athletes, 15yr old Uliti Uilou and 13yr old Roelien du Plessis, went to Masterton on the 5th of March to compete in the North Island Secondary School Athletics Championship. This meet is of the highest calibre and has only the very best regional athletes from all over the North Island. It was a massive step up in competition and a great experience for them both.

BOP Zone Swimming Championships.

This competition is for the top swimmers in all the Year 7 & 8 students from the colleges around the Bay. A great day of enjoyable competition was had against some tough opponents.

WBOP Swimming Championships
Katikati College sent a small team of swimmers over to Hamilton on Wednesday 16th April to compete against the best swimmers in the Bay and Waikato. It was a very tough meet with a real step up in competition for our students. Our team had already swum at the Thames Valley Regionals and needed to make the qualifying times to be considered for this competition. The team was Libby Bradley, Tessa Bradley, Liam Cossey, Karoline Dale, Hanna Maloni, Stacey Muir, Jayden Van Timmeren and Oliver Westhues.

Jemima Smith and Hannah Maloni both swam Personal Bests in both of their events, making it a very successful day all round.

Tai Mitchell Rugby
9 boys from Katikati College were selected to trial for the Tauranga West Tai Mitchell Year 7 & 8 Rugby team with Thomas Carter and Lesen Huiarangi successfully making the side. The team will compete for the Tai Mitchell Shield in the upcoming tournament in July. The 10 BOP Teams in this competition are Tauranga West, Tauranga East, Te Puke, Rangitaiki, Whakatane, Opotiki, Te Whanau Apaunui, Rotorua Gold, Rotorua Maroon and Galatea.

Glenn Templeton was recently selected to play in the Annual Quadrangular Tournament on 12th & 13th April in Whangarei. Two boys and two girls were selected from each age group to play against Auckland, Northland and Waikato. Glenn represented BOP in the U13 boys and won all 3 of his matches without dropping a set. BOP team finished a close 2nd overall behind the winners Auckland.

Glenn also heads to Auckland in the holidays to compete in the NZ Junior Open 25th – 27th April along with the next rising squash star - his little sister Katie from Katikati Primary!
